BASIC SCIENCE AND GENERAL STUDIES
Basic Science and General Studies is a department whose main function in to service all the departments in Federal College of Forest Resources Management Fugar,  by teaching all basic science and general courses which form the bedrock of regular programmes (National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in the college. These fundamental courses are very important in the curriculum content of the college to enable students have a proper grasp of the curriculum and prepare them for future tasks in their chosen career. Basic Science and General Studies courses include:

• Basic Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology)
• General Laboratory Techniques
• English Language,
• Communication,
• Citizen Education
• Report Writing
• Information Technology.

Objectives of Basic Science and General Studies Department include:

1. To enable students, have grasps of their curriculum content.
2. Enable students acquire basic knowledge in fundamental concepts needed to master courses offered in the College.
3. To equip students with the basic rudiments in the care, maintenance and safety in the Laboratory.
4. Enable students acquire broad-based education designed to sharpen students’ communication skills.
5. Equip students with complementary life skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal and team work skills.
6. To ensure College graduates possess the relevant personal and ethical principles to enable them compete with other graduates in the labour market.
7. The soil, pathology, Entomology, Chemistry, Biology and Physics laboratories all under the department are also open to both students and lecturers in all the departments in the college for their project/research works. .
